colleagues. Your commitment to
Supporting Multiple Births
Together is of great importance to Canada’s multiple-birth
community.
Chapter
Representatives: Please forward the information below to
your Chapter Executive and members.
Last year,
over a dozen chapters celebrated National Multiple Births Awareness Day in
communities across Canada. It was
an exciting day that earned extensive media support and resulted in an audience
with the Ministry of Human Resources and Skills Development to articulate our
rationale for changes to EI benefits for multiple-birth families.
This
year we plan to build upon that success with the 2006 theme “Raising awareness of the unique risks of
multiple-birth pregnancies and the post-natal issues faced by parents and
multiples,” with the sub-theme “Supporting Multiple Births Together.” The
MBC Board of Directors is hoping that our united effort will give insight to
others about the challenges and issues we know firsthand. We are encouraging all our chapters to
celebrate the second annual National Multiple Births Awareness Day on Sunday,
May 28th. We know that
members will be enthused by the excitement of our multiple-birth community coast
to coast!
If
you accept this invitation, please contact us at communications@multiplebirthscanada.org
as soon as possible so we can add you to the list of chapters supporting
National Multiple Births Awareness Day.
To
assist you in organizing your local event, MBC has developed an Event Planner
Package with the tools you’ll need to enable your chapter to host an exciting
event while raising awareness on May 28th. Your event need not be big; it can be as
uncomplicated as a family hour in the park with cake and balloons. The goal is to put together a
celebration that can be handled effortlessly by your volunteers. That is why we’ve prepared this package.
Event
Planner Package includes:
Your
cost? MBC member chapters pay just
$30. Non-member multiple-birth
groups pay $50. Email office@multiplebirthscanada.org
or call 1-866-228-8824. Order deadline is April 1, 2006. Kits will be mailed out by April 15,
2006.
