This
January and February 2006 Board
Activity Report is intended to inform MBC members of work performed by the Board
of Directors on behalf of all multiple-births individuals, families and
supporters in Canada. It does not
include the many activities coordinated in the business office by our Business
Services Manager or the many worthwhile projects currently being handled by our
valuable national volunteers.

Held
Board meetings on MSN to discuss ongoing business
·
Produced
and distributed a series of ICs updating members on MBC
activities
·
Planned
for a face-to-face MBC strategic development meeting to be held in March in
Ottawa
·
Produced
and distributed a media release and updated the website information on National
Multiple Births Awareness Day 2006
·
Began
planning lead event programme and special event kit for National Multiple Births
Awareness Day on May 28th 2006
·
Requested
quotes and worked on designing a National Multiple Births Awareness Day sticker
to be included in NMBAD packages
·
Liaised
with press and broadcast media in response to interest in National MBC
Conference 2006 and other multiple-birth issues including EI
·
Began
discussions of theme for the 2007 National Multiple Awareness
Day.
·
Selected
a new printer for the revamped Multiple
Moments
·
Researched
funding for French translation of MBC resources and began funding proposal with
the assistance of two national volunteers.
·
Accepted
offer from Temiskaming Multiple Births to fund a NEW bilingual MBC
poster
·
Initiated
the formation of a new Chapter Outreach committee
·
Finalized
criteria for the new Media and Dionne awards
·
Encouraged
volunteers for the selection committee of the Making A Difference
Awards
·
Promoted
nominations for the 2005/2006 Making a Difference Awards
·
Liaised
with Chatham-Kent Multiple Births Association, hosts of National MBC Conference
2006 as requested
·
Reviewed
hosting agreement with K-W (Kitchener-Waterloo) POMBA for National MBC
Conference 2007
·
Initiated
discussions with individuals and MBC chapters regarding 30th
Anniversary celebrations in 2008
·
Continued
to work on discount programs for MBC members
·
Assisted
Global TV on an upcoming news series focusing on the challenges faced by
multiple-birth families
·
Continued
work with new National Fundraiser to be launched in March.
·
Finalized
agreement of understanding with Mount Sinai Hospital on the DVD project “Finding
our Way”
·
Produced
director columns and other pieces for Multiple Moments
·
Produced
media release promoting the 2nd Annual Twins Day at the home opener
of the Blue Jays
·
Monitored
results of the federal election and reviewed our strategy for advancing our EI
dialogue with the new ministers
·
Moderated MBC forum,
adding topics, encouraging people to post, eliminating spam
·
Liased with K-W POMBA,
hosts of the National MBC Conference 2007, attended a conference
meeting
·
Sent letters of
encouragement to 3 chapters, assisted with their concerns
·
Sent email with
fundraising information to several chapters that could be benefiting from pizza
fundraiser
·
Contacted several
chapters by email asking for chapter exchange for June issue of
MM
·
Approved
registration for two national volunteers, Diane Myers and Donna Launslager, to
attend the Mount Sinai Symposium in Toronto in May 2006.
·
Created
a template for Chapters to use when requesting donations in their communities,
outlining their involvement with the national organization.
·
Began
discussions with Board of Directors with regards to Board positions and
succession planning.
·
Handled
all MBC correspondence and requests for assistance from MBC
Chapters

magazine, Quarterly Issue 1, 2006 has been delivered to Canada Post! Expect it
in the next few days along with the March 2006 Report From National which can
