Wasaga Beach, ON:
Multiple Births Canada (MBC) is pleased to provide ongoing updates to
its members, chapters and colleagues.

multiple-birth community.

This March 2006 Board
Activity Report is intended to inform MBC members of work performed by the
Board of Directors on behalf of all multiple-births individuals, families and
supporters in Canada. It does not
include the many activities coordinated in the business office by our Business
Services Manager or the many worthwhile projects currently being handled by our
valuable national volunteers.
- Held Board meetings on MSN to
discuss ongoing business
- Produced and distributed a series of ICs
updating members on MBC activities
- Prepared for and held a 24-hour
(over three days) MBC strategic development meeting on MSN March 3-5.
- Worked with Global News and
WestCoast Families magazine on multiple-birth stories
- Spoke with MP Anthony Rota regarding
federal proclamation of National Multiple Births Awareness Day in the
House of Commons for May 28th
- Forwarded an introductory letter and
information package to the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human
Resources and Development, outlining the needs of multiple-birth families
as they pertain to Employment Insurance benefits and criteria
- Liaised with Conference 2006 and
Conference 2007 committees about these upcoming events
- Connected with chapters regarding
the chapter exchange section of Multiple
Moments
- Moderated MBC forum, adding topics, encouraging people
to post, eliminating spam
- Finalized MBC Donation Recognition
Policy
- Identified potential corporate
supporters
- Started a letter writing campaign to
initiate a corporate supporter relationship with fertility drug companies
- Researched new formats for 2006
Annual Report
- Liaised with a potential chapter,
providing information about MBC and its resources and services
- Continued work on an Employment Insurance survey
overview for those who provided feedback on this issue
- Responded to international requests including
answering questions from a Sri Lankan doctor about multiples in school.
- Replied to a request from the Twins and
Multiples Birth Association of the United Kingdom (TAMBA) wanting to
benchmark multiple-birth standards in each country
- Continued work on Strategic Plan for 2006-2008
- Identified the need for new volunteers including
potential Board members
- Encouraged nominations for the Making a
Difference Awards (MADA)
- Started preparing for the 2006 MBC National
Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Accepted resignation from Frank Portugais from
Bennett Gold, who reviews our Financial Statements, and began a search for
a replacement
- Approved new discount for MBC members with My
PEEK A Boo Baby http://www.mypeekaboo.ca
- Renewed six-month contract with Business
Services Manager
- Approved new Awareness Sticker to be worn or used
on print materials for National Multiple Birth Awareness Day
- Sent chapters a formal request seeking support
on an MBC Awareness/Support wristband
- Began work on National Multiple Births Awareness
Day media kit and event planner
- Began discussions of 2006-2007 budget
inclusions, and funding needs
- Finalized design and ordered a NEW bilingual MBC
poster
- Handled all MBC correspondence and requests for
assistance from MBC Chapters
