Newly
Identified MBC Volunteer Positions
Wasaga
Beach, ON: Multiple Births Canada
(MBC) is pleased to provide ongoing updates to its members, chapters and
colleagues. Your commitment to
Supporting Multiple Births
Together is of great importance to Canada’s multiple-birth
community.
Chapter
Representatives: Please forward the information below to
your Chapter Executive and members.
NEW
Volunteer Positions: There are many ways to volunteer for the
multiple-birth community, including getting involved with your local MBC
chapter. Giving your time to an
organization that strives to make a difference is rewarding, not just for what
it means to those whose lives are improved by your generosity, but also for
yourself and your family. When
those in your family do volunteer work, your children learn an exceptional
lesson in giving. Then, there are
the rewards you will personally experience. You will develop new skills, increase
your self-confidence, improve your computer knowledge, and feel great about all
you’re accomplishing for Canada’s multiple-birth
community.
Before
you analyze the list of new volunteer positions, take a look at what you want
from volunteering and what you can offer.
How many hours per week do you want to give, and can you realistically
give? Are you thinking long-term
commitment, or are you project driven?
Would you rather work alone, or on a committee? What skills do you currently possess,
and which ones would you like to improve or develop? Are you looking for new challenges? Your answer to these questions will
allow you to choose a volunteer position that will satisfy and fulfill you.
The MBC
Board of Directors cordially invites you to consider joining a strong
volunteer-based national organization in one of these capacities:
- Fundraising
Program Volunteer(s):
MBC has recently partnered with two national fundraising companies and are
seeking volunteers to coordinate these two programs on an on-going basis from
your home (i.e. learn about the program and be available to support individual
members and chapters who would like to participate to raise funds for their
own chapter and for MBC). This
role is ideal for someone who wants to volunteer but would like to do so from
home, has access to email, and has a few hours a month to spare.
- Public
Relations Volunteer:
This person will work with the Director of Communications on special projects
throughout the year distributing media releases and liaising between the media
and MBC national volunteers.
Average monthly commitment is 3 hours.
- Marketing
Volunteer:
This person will be self-driven and has marketing skills or would like to
further develop them through a volunteer position. He or she will promote Multiple Moments and MBC through the use
of print and electronic media.
Average monthly commitment is 8 hours.
- National
Discount Coordinator:
This person will be comfortable talking to business leaders about discounts
and affiliate programs for MBC members.
He or she will also maintain current relationships with national
discount partners. Average
monthly commitment is 10 hours.
- Volunteer
Newsletter Editor:
This
person will keep MBC national volunteers connected and informed by producing a
digital volunteer newsletter for distribution on a bi-monthly or quarterly
basis. Average monthly commitment
is 8 hours.
- Human
Resources Specialist:
This person will work with the Volunteer Coordinator/Director of Volunteer
Management to develop Volunteer Job Descriptions for existing and new
positions. Initial monthly
commitment is approximately 10 hours but will decrease as the job descriptions
are completed.
- Making
a Difference Awards Chair: This person will oversee a committee
that will review and select the winners of the annual Making A Difference
Awards (MADA). Perfect for he or
she who wants to be involved in a special project of limited duration. Average commitment is 20 hours per
year.
- Policy
and Procedures Manual Specialist: This person will review and update the
MBC Policy and Procedures Manual. He or she understands the value in having
rules and guidelines to govern our national organization. Average monthly commitment is 5
hours.
- Committee
Members: These
positions are project driven, which means they have a life of one to two
years.
- Chapter
Development Committee: Members of this committee will
develop an action plan for creating new chapters and encouraging former
affiliates to return to MBC.
Average monthly commitment is 5 hours.
- 2007
NMBAD Committee: This committee will develop the 2007
NMBAD theme and create an action plan for delivering it to MBC members, the
media, professionals, and all Canadians. Average monthly commitment is 5
hours.
- French
Translation Committee: This committee will translate MBC
resources, including the website, for our francophone community. MBC hopes to grow this committee to
include other languages.
Average monthly commitment is 5 hours.
- 2008
30th Anniversary Celebration
Committee: This committee will develop an
action plan that will allow MBC members across Canada to collectively
celebrate this major milestone.
Average monthly commitment is 5 hours, less now, more later.
- National
Board Members:
These volunteers will have experience preferably in (but not limited to)
volunteer management, funding/grant writing and fundraising, or financial
management. These positions are
ideal for (but not limited to) volunteers who have just completed an Executive
position with a local chapter and who want to share this experience and offer
their skills and knowledge to MBC at the national level. Average monthly
commitment is 40 hours.
The
Board of Directors reminds members that we are an equal opportunity
organization. These positions are
open to all men and women who are MBC members in good standing. If you require more information, or
would like to volunteer for one of these positions, please contact MBC by
emailing mbcvolunteers@multiplebirthscanada.org.
