April 2006 Board Activity Report
is intended to inform MBC members of work performed by the Board of Directors on
behalf of all multiple-births individuals, families and supporters in
Canada. It does not include the
many activities coordinated in the business office by our Business Services
Manager or the many worthwhile projects currently being handled by our valuable
national volunteers.

Prepared for Annual
General Meeting and 2006 Conference

Finalized letters to
three major drug companies and worked specifically on a funding proposal to
one

Produced several IC’s
including an update on National Multiple Births Awareness Day and a call for
national volunteers
·
Finalized
communication pieces for National Multiple Births Awareness Day media
kit
·
Worked with chapters
who are holding National Multiple Births Awareness Day
celebrations
·
Worked on official
statement to be read in House of Commons on May 29 announcing National Multiple
Births Awareness Day
·
Worked on several
pieces for the Annual Report
·
Finalized decision on
the usage of the Duchesnay funding
·
Sent message to MBC
Volunteers in celebration of National Volunteer Week with the assistance of Lori
MacEwen, Volunteer Coordinator

Gave a reference for a
National Volunteer for a part-time position applied for and
received
·
Sent reminders to
several chapters regarding membership renewal
·
Attended fundraising
fair in Kitchener, obtaining some new ideas
·
Recruited a volunteer
to help moderate the MBC forums, discussed tasks
·
Added to and cleaned
up the MBC forum
·
Liaised with
Conference 2006 and provided communications pieces for the
program
·
Began consultation
process with Chapter Outreach Forum, the committee looking at the current MBC
Chapter relationship with the intent of presenting recommendations at the 2006
AGM

Attended Conference
2007 meeting; liaised between conference 2007 committee & MBC
board
·
Completed a newsletter
survey
·
Gathered and formatted
chapter exchange information for Multiple Moments
·
Wrote Webconnections
for Multiple Moment

Received
an acknowledgement from the information package sent to the Honourable Diane
Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, outlining the needs
of multiple-birth families as it pertains to Employment Insurance benefits and
criteria
·
Continued
work on Strategic Plan for 2006-2009
·
Handled
all MBC correspondence and requests for assistance from MBC Chapters, families
and volunteers.
