Activity Report
Wasaga Beach,
ON: Multiple Births Canada (MBC)
is pleased to provide ongoing updates to its members, chapters and
colleagues. Your commitment to Supporting Multiple Births Together is of
great importance to Canada’s multiple-birth community.

your Chapter Executive and members.
The Monthly
Activity Report is designed to keep MBC members informed on the work being
performed by the Board of Directors and its national volunteers on behalf of
all multiple-birth individuals, families and supporters in Canada. Our brief review of May 2005 does not
include the many activities coordinated in the business office by our Business
Services Manager.
General Business
- Attended bi-weekly regular business
board meetings every other Sunday night
- Welcomed one more new chapter –
North Bay Multiples in Action
- Handled all MBC correspondence
- Finalized 2005-2006 budget
- Contacted more MBC chapters through
their MBC representatives
- Updated the MBC Representative job
description
- Met with Ontario Best Start to
introduce the needs of multiple-birth families and seek representation at
the provincial planning table (thanks Diane and Donna!)
- Renewed our commitment to the Adult
Multiples Support Network (thanks Lynda!)
- Reviewed volunteer commitments and
received offers of interest from four new individuals.
National Multiple Births Awareness Day
- Finalized all the media pieces for the
media kit
- Translated to French (thanks
Murielle!) many of these pieces
- Posted all pieces to the MBC website
- Further developed the action plan
for the “EI call to dialogue”
- Sent out event planner packages to
nine member chapters, responding to many chapters needing more assistance
- Contacted 100 major print outlets,
including newspapers and magazines across Canada (75 English, 25 French)
- Invited the advisory board to join
us, sharing our media pieces with them
- Handled media requests from
broadcast and print journalists, including the National Post, CBC and
North Bay media
- Continued to pursue the opportunity
of having the National Multiple Births Awareness Day (NMBAD) recognized by
the Canadian Government
- Mentored chapter spokespeople who
were asked to speak to media in their regions
- Organized and delivered the lead
event at the Dionne Quints Museum
- Continued to address media requests
in the weeks following NMBAD
- Started developing post-NMBAD
products including Key Messages on EI document
as a follow-up for chapters, as well as ICs, articles and updates for
upcoming issues of Multiple Moments
and Report from National.
Back to Basics – National Volunteer Retreat Weekend and MBC
AGM
- Attended bi-weekly organizational
meetings (alternate Sunday evenings)
- Received many additional responses
from donation requests
- Finished packing delegate, volunteer
and fundraising resource bags for attendees
- Finalized the catering, programming
and accommodations for the weekend
- Produced all conference and AGM material,
including sorting and photocopying
- Compiled the interim chapter survey results for the
conference
- Discussed the opportunity for
affiliate programs with some national companies to help raise funds at the
national level as well as opportunities for fundraising at the local level
- Discussed the possibility of
offering national discounts with some of the companies that donated items
to the Back to Basics Retreat
- Organized, delivered and attended
this well-received educational and networking weekend at the Canadian
Ecology Centre
- Celebrated the long time commitment
of volunteers at the national level during the Back to Basics Volunteer
Development Retreat Volunteer Recognition Dinner together with the Making
a Difference Awards.
