Monthly Activity Report


Wasaga Beach, ON:  Multiple Births Canada (MBC) is pleased to provide ongoing updates to its members, chapters and colleagues.  Your commitment to Supporting Multiple Births Together is of great importance to Canada’s multiple-birth community.

 

Chapter Representatives:  Please forward the information below to your Chapter Executive and members.

 

This June 2005 Board Activity Report is intended to inform MBC members of work performed by the Board of Directors on behalf of all multiple-births individuals, families and supporters in Canada.  It does not include the many activities coordinated in the business office by our Business Services Manager or the many worthwhile projects currently being handled by our valuable national volunteers.

 

Board Activities

·         Met every other Sunday evening on MSN to discuss ongoing business.

·         Finalized the summer edition of Report from National (July).

·         Finalized many articles for Multiple Moments (Quarterly Issue 2, 2005).

·         Assisted the Chatham-Kent chapter in reviewing their Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant Proposal for National Conference 2006.

·         Sent and posted ICs to share news on MBC discounts and other summer discounts.

·         Met with the Travelodge representative to further discuss the MBC/Travelodge relationship.

·         Finalized the new Fun-in-a-Box Discount.

·         Touched base with new volunteers about getting involved in MBC work.

·         Began planning the fall interim board meeting.

·         Handled all MBC correspondence.

 

National Multiple Births Awareness Day/Call To Dialogue About EI Benefits

·         Posted the speeches from the lead event in North Bay and the main information pieces used for the event on the MBC website.

·         Assisted a number of chapters with their media interviews.

·         Finalized the Next Steps documents to give direction to MBC members and affiliate chapters, published in Quarterly Issue 2 of Multiple Moments (distributed in July 2005).

·         Developed a “letter to the editor” further advancing our awareness of the EI issue for distribution to Canadian newspapers throughout the summer.

·         Requested from Anthony Rota, M.P. Nipissing-Timiskaming a date in the fall to meet with the Honourable Belinda Stronach, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, to discuss our suggestions for EI improvement for multiple-birth families.

·         Completed television interview with Global News in Montreal, describing our call to dialogue and the specific context of EI and supports for multiple-birth families in Quebec.

 

‘Back To Basics’ Volunteer Retreat and AGM

·         Reviewed the financial results of the weekend

·         Began reviewing the 2005 Volunteer Development Retreat evaluations
