One of our 10-year old twin daughters went to visit a friend early one afternoon. We received a call asking if she could stay overnight and we said yes. I phoned mid-afternoon on the next day to arrange the pick-up time when the Mom asked if Emily could stay another night. I thought her visit was long enough and said No, we would like her home. A few minutes later, Emily herself called and begged to stay another night. I explained that her time away was long enough, we missed her and would like her home. She responded, "Missing me is your problem. Besides, you've got pictures."

We were visiting the girls' grandparents in Toronto and my father took them into his workshop where much sawing and hammering was heard. All three came out with things that they had made: a box, two sailing ships. They were all grinning from ear to ear and so pleased with their creations. When we got back home, Emily was still reminiscing about working in her grandfather's workshop and what else she would like to make. "When I'm a famous carpenter," she asked me, "can I make your coffin?"

A little true story - "Reward"...One day Alison decided she wanted to help me out. She swept my kitchen and dining room floor, without being asked. I rewarded her with .25 cents and said, "Thank you for doing such a great job!" She then went upstairs to put the money in her piggy bank and came back down and offered me .08 cents. "This is for you mommy". I asked her what this was for and she exclaimed, "It's for looking after all the babies!" This was the biggest reward I have ever gotten. Well, I'm a mother of a 4-year-old and 18 month old quintuplets. It just happens to be 8 of us in the family: Alison, Simon, Alexandra, Madison, Ryan and Sara.
