Making A Difference Awards - Volunteer Recognition within the community of multiple births
In every age, communities and national organizations have celebrated the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of their members. The volunteer recognition awards, “Making a Difference” has been established to acknowledge outstanding contributions and achievements within the multiple birth community.
The awards acknowledge our best… those people who have demonstrated excellence, courage or exceptional dedication to service in ways that bring special credit within the community of multiple births.
Honour Our Best
The Local, National and International awards were created for the express purpose of acknowledging our “unsung heroes”. Every day, selfless volunteers of all ages give extraordinary service to their communities, to organizations and to other individuals. They donate their energies and resources, often for many years, without thought of award or compensation. The Making a Difference Awards is our way of thanking them for their contributions to the multiple birth community. (see above for nomination form)
The Media award
was created to thank a media outlet or journalist that went above and beyond over the last year to create awareness for multiple-birth issues locally or nationally. (see above for nomination form)
The Dionne award was
created to recognize an adult multiple(s) who has “made a difference” on behalf of the multiple-birth community. (see above for nomination form)
In particular, we seek guidance to identify people who merit this award. Someone in your community may well be worthy of such acknowledgement. The appointment of a recipient to these awards is on the basis of their accomplishments that contributed to the betterment of the multiple birth community.
Criteria
Any individual who has provided extraordinary service is eligible for the award – they need not be members of Multiple Births Canada/Naissance multiples Canada. A clear statement of the reasons for the recognition should accompany nominations, including a summary of the nominee’s record of service and a list of dependable references.
Specifically, MBC has five awards available for consideration.
Award Committee
The Making a Difference Awards Committee carefully reviews every nomination, verifying the nature and quality of the nominee’s contribution. At its conclusion, a list of recipients is recommended to the Board. There is an appointment of three recipients every year. Generally, recipients receive this award at ceremonies during the Annual General Meeting and Conference.
How are the recipients of these awards chosen?
The process begins with a worthy candidate nominated by another person. If you look around your multiple birth community there are likely various people deserving of this award. Making A Difference Awards
