International Awareness Week

The importance of promoting and supporting the rights and needs of multiple birth children was highlighted by Alessandra Piontelli in her book Twins in the World. In her travels she has observed how some cultures deify twins while others attribute evil spirits to them. Others outright destroy all multiple siblings.

International Multiple Births Awareness Week is the 1st week of November, celebrated bi-annually starting in 2010. For 2010, the focus is to promote the newly updated document, Declaration of Rights and Statements of Needs of Twins and Higher Order Multiples.
